WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green is dealing with injury. Green recently suffered a broken orbital bone a few weeks ago on WWE SmackDown. The injury happened just days after winning championship gold.

Green won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. She captured the title during a five-way ladder match. However, her celebration was quickly followed by injury.

WWE star Nattie explains how Chelsea Green’s injury helps

WWE star Nattie believes the injury could help Green. She recently discussed Green’s title reign on Busted Open Radio. According to Nattie, the injury gives Green another obstacle. “I think that her breaking her orbital bone, her having this injury, is the best thing that could’ve happened to her as a brand new champion, because it’s giving her an impediment that she has to work through.”

Nattie explained that winning the championship changes everything. “That’s always the struggle. Once people win a championship, once a babyface wins a championship, you almost feel like the chase is over.”

She also explained how the injury benefits Green. “We were all waiting for Chelsea to have this championship that was so elusive that she couldn’t get it, that she was always almost so, so, so close to having it.”

“Then now, she’s finally got it, and then the next week, you’re like, ‘Okay, now what?’ Chelsea’s no longer chasing it. She’s no longer got an obstacle. This created a really organic and very real obstacle that continues to allow the audience to get really behind her.” [H/T: 411mania]

Green suffered the injury during a tag team match. She teamed with Tiffany Stratton against Fatal Influence. Despite the injury, Green remains the champion for now. WWE reportedly has no plans to strip her title.
