Fans of popular burger chain Whataburger could soon see a new location pop up near them.
Whataburger told USA TODAY the chain, which operates over 1,100 restaurants across 17 states, is planning to open 15 new locations across seven states by the end of June.
Most Whataburger locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 364 days a year – they are closed on Christmas. The chain is known for its made-to-order, customizable burgers, its popular Patty Melt, and its Fancy Ketchup.
Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger restaurant in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950, according to the company's website. By 1959, Dobson had opened 20 additional locations, including the first one outside of Texas in Pensacola, Florida.

In May 2025, the chain opened its first North Carolina restaurant in Gastonia, expanding its footprint to its 17th state, according to the company's website.
