The Voice contestant Dylan Carter's cause of death has been revealed.
The singer died of died of blunt force injuries sustained in a car accident, TMZ reports.
Carter appeared on season 24 of The Voice, during which he moved the judges' to tears with his performance of Whitney Houston's "I Look to You."

The singer, who competed on season 24 of NBC’s singing competition series, died of blunt force injuries after being involved in a single-vehicle car accident in Colleton County, S.C., on Saturday, TMZ reports, citing the Colleton County Coroner. He was 24.
The outlet also confirmed that Carter’s death has been ruled accidental and that he was wearing his seat belt at the time of his death.

News of Carter’s passing was shared over the weekend by Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr., as well as the Local Voice, a non-profit organization co-founded by Carter that provides care to women battling breast cancer.
"Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident," Hamilton wrote in a Sunday Facebook post. "As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events. His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt."
He continued, “To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period. The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer he was our friend and we are deeply saddened.”

Carter was just 20 years old when he stepped onto The Voice stage on season 24. His standout rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You,” which he sang as a tribute to his late mother, saw teary-eyed coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani all turn their chairs.
The South Carolina singer ended up selecting McEntire as his coach, calling her a "comforting mom figure" at the time. He was eliminated during the battle rounds of the competition.

After his death, McEntire paid tribute to Carter on social media by posting an image of him on her Instagram Story.
"We will miss Dylan so much," the Grammy winner wrote. "He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend."
