The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror | Exclusive Episode on Disney+ | Trailer - Disney Plus/YouTube
The Simpsons is putting its own Springfield spin on sci-fi horror series Black Mirror with “Yellow Mirror,” a new Disney+ exclusive that takes aim at artificial intelligence and the increasingly blurry line between technology and reality.
Premiering August 26 exclusively on Disney+, the special tells two dark and bizarre stories. A defective lamp forces Homer (Dan Castellaneta) to confront a heartbreaking truth, while an AI-powered tablet befriends Maggie before plotting for control of Springfield. Together, the stories send the Simpsons into some “Treehouse of Horror”-esque dark territory as the family searches for a little light amid the technological chaos.
Promising “two twisted tales from The Simpsons,” the trailer opens with Bart (Nancy Cartwright) falling through a void and declaring, “Anything can happen in the Yellow Mirror.” From there, “Yellow Mirror” takes aim at modern parenting and the consequences of letting technology raise our children, as an AI-powered device goes rogue and threatens humanity. In the second tale, a defective lamp reveals a devastating truth about Homer’s reality, forcing him to confront the possibility that his family may have never existed at all. (If that latter story sounds familiar, perhaps it reminds you of a popular Glitch in the Matrix story with a similar concept.)

‘The Simpsons’ Will End With Season 40, Nancy Cartwright Thinks
This marks the third Disney+ exclusive episode of The Simpsons to debut this summer, following “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition,” which saw a frustrated Marge (Julie Kavner) imagine three different versions of Homer after a disastrous date night, and “Simpsley,” a Ripley-inspired noir that reimagined Marge as a penniless con artist sent to Italy to bring a wealthy Seymour Skinner (Harry Shearer) home.
The beloved long-running Fox animated series returns for Season 38 this fall, but fans can get their Springfield fix anytime on Disney+. The Disney+ The Simpsons Collection features the main series alongside exclusive specials, themed episode collections, shorts, and The Simpsons Movie.
