Scobell and Myers tell PEOPLE they found voice acting surprisingly challenging
Jason Sudeikis' Red is becoming a little less of an angry bird and more of a wholesome father in The Angry Birds Movie 3.
Paramount has released the first trailer for the movie, which flies into theaters on Dec. 23, 2026. Sudeikis, 50, Danny McBride, Josh Gad and Rachel Bloom reprise their roles as Red, Bomb, Chuck and Silver, respectively. Meanwhile, Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, Marcello Hernández, Anna Cathcart, Nikki Glaser, Emma Myers and Walker Scobell join the voice cast.
The trailer catches up with Red as he navigates parenthood, looking after his hatchling, voiced by Psalm West, while trying to baby-proof the family home and connect with his uninterested teenagers, voiced by Myers, 24, and Scobell, 17.
“I’m a professional full-time parent,” Red says at one point in the clip. “It’s my new job.”

With help from Bomb (McBride) and Chuck (Gad), Red tackles everything from diaper changes to sugar rushes.
Myers and Scobell may challenge Red on screen as his children, but the actors say stepping into the recording booth was more demanding than they expected.

“It's a lot harder than I expected,” Scobell tells PEOPLE. “It's still difficult, but you show up and you sit down and you go over the lines pretty close to the microphone. I don't know why I never thought I'd be having to put so much energy into it.”
He continues, “It took me by surprise. I didn't even think about how much energy you have to put into your voice. But it's super fun. I actually ended up liking it a lot.”

Myers had a similar experience, bonding with Scobell over their shared challenges after recording sessions.
“Walker and I would be texting afterwards being like, ‘This is what I did,’ ” she tells PEOPLE. “And he’d be like, ‘Are you super tired? Like, I was yelling my whole session.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, me too. I’m super tired.’ "

The Angry Birds Movie 3 opens in theaters over Christmas weekend.
