Susan Lucci portrayed Erica Kane on All My Children, from 1970 to 2013

Susan Lucci had some awkward ways of being introduced to Erica Kane's love interests.

The actress, 79, talked about Kane's busy love life during her appearance on The Social on Tuesday, June 23. Asked about the "sensual scenes" she shared with other actors, Lucci admitted there wasn't always time to get comfortable with her scene partner.

"Well, you know, in order to cast those romantic scenes and the romantic leads opposite you, we had auditions," she began.

"And I remember one audition, I mean, they just put us right in bed together. And so I am kissing this total stranger. And at the end, I just said to him, 'We should know each other's names.' "

She concluded, "Awkward, you know? Just a little awkward."

During a conversation between Lucci and Andy Cohen at New York City's 92NY marking All My Children's 55th anniversary in January, Cohen read a question from a fan asking Lucci who her character's favorite husband was.

“So many men, so little time,” the actress joked, adding that she'd worked with “a wonderful group of men” during her time on the show.

Lucci said that her character's mother Mona (played by Frances Heflin) preferred Erica's third husband Tom Cudahy (played by Richard Shoberg), noting, "She was really rooting for him." Ultimately, the fictional pair married in the early '80s, but the marriage was later annulled.

As for her own favorite, Lucci said she was partial to the eighth and final man to walk Erica down the aisle: Walt Willey's Jackson “Jack” Montgomery.

The tortured, on-again-off-again romance between the characters kicked off in the late '80s, while Erica was married to his brother, Travis. They began an affair during Erica and Travis' marriage, which was declared invalid twice. The two were always in one another's orbit, but went on to other relationships and marriages before finding their way back to each other in the late '90s, only for Jack to break things off after he discovered that Erica slept with her back-from-the-dead fifth husband, Mike Roy (Nicolas Surovy).

Erica and Jack finally married in 2005, only to divorce two years later. But Lucci's character continued to carry a torch for Jack, declaring her love to him in All My Children's final episode on ABC.

“Jack Montgomery was the one who wouldn't leave and couldn't get out of her life, and she couldn't walk away from him,” Lucci said during the Q&A. “Although at the end, she was in the crosshairs of that rifle going after Jack because she had left him again. Yeah, I guess Jack.”
