"Final log as Admiral April. As we close out 2025, we also wrap up a show that allowed me to live among the stars. To step into the boots of Admiral Robert April has been a true privilege and a dream come true. What an honor to help bring this legend to life and to serve alongside such a phenomenal cast and crew," wrote Holmes in the caption.

In addition, he gave shoutouts to his co-star Anson Mount, who played Captain Christopher Pike, and the show's co-creator Akiva Goldsman.

"Anson Mount @ansonmount, it was a pleasure and an honor to be your Admiral, and to follow your lead my friend. Akiva Goldsman @ajgoldsman1629, you’re a genius, thank you. Thank you to everyone who made this voyage possible and unforgettable. Five seasons of heart, imagination, and family. Forever grateful for this journey. Until we meet again among the stars, #LiveLongAndProsper April out," continued Holmes.

Anson Mount Defended Adrian Holmes

In a July 2025 interview on actor Michael Rosenbaum's podcast,Inside of You, Mount stated that Holmes received unwarranted criticism after he began playing Captain April, who was presented as a white man, in Star Trek: The Animated Series, which ran for two seasons until 1974.

ā€œIt pissed me off. It really pissed me off. And I really felt disappointed in a least a few people’s lack of … I mean is that really as deep as character goes for you?ā€ said Mount during the July 2025 interview. "I actually reached out to Adrian when that happened and told him there was never any conversations like that on this set and there never will be. We think he’s doing an amazing job. And he did. And he does now."

Mount also said he believes "the culture wars are so bad that it's gotten to the point where if you cast a Black actor in anything, somebody's going to scream woke."

The upcoming fourth season of Star Trek: SNW will start airing in 2026.
