If "The Beatles: Get Back" put you in the room with Fab Four, the new documentary "Man on the Run" gets you into Paul McCartney's life as a solo performer and with Wings.
The new documentary, directed by Morgan Neville (“20 Feet From Stardom,” “Keith Richards: Under the Influence”), arrives on Amazon Prime Video after a special one-night Feb. 19 theatrical screening.
The feature-length documentary includes home videos of McCartney, wife Linda and their children on the family farm in Scotland, footage of early Wings rehearsals and archival photos taken by Linda McCartney – and footage of the other Beatles.
The film also includes new interviews with McCartney, who is 83, and daughters Stella and Mary. Also interviewed are Sean Ono Lennon, Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde and former members of Wings.

New Paul McCartney documentary tracks solo, Wings career
"Man on the Run" details the Beatles' breakup and McCartney's lawsuit against manager Allen Klein and the other band members. But the main subject is McCartney's beginnings of a solo career, which led to the album "McCartney," released in 1970. "I was on my own for the first time. Am I any good on my own?" he asks in the film.
That leads to the story Wings, formed in 1971, and includes Linda McCartney's dealing with criticism of her musicianship. "I'm not there because I'm the greatest keyboard player," she says. "I'm there because we love each other."

Omnipresent is McCartney's longtime Beatles writing partner John Lennon, who is seen is multiple archival video scenes. The film comes to a close after Lennon's death on Dec. 8, 1980.

"One of the great blessings in my life is that we made up," McCartney says in the film. "It's beautiful and it's sad at the same time."
