Explosions, traps and $500k: MrBeast challenges Indiana State Police

A new MrBeast video started with a bang in Indiana.

One-hundred Indiana State Police troopers took part in the challenge to hunt MrBeast, a popular YouTuber whose legal name is Jimmy Donaldson, and four others. The police had 12 hours to capture the five creators in a controlled set that resembled a small town. Half a million dollars were on the line.

"To give us a fighting chance, I spent months setting up hundreds of cameras, booby traps and secret rooms," MrBeast said in the YouTube video, which has more than 41 million views as of Aug. 24. "Let's just hope it's enough to keep us from getting caught."

With more than 514 million subscribers, MrBeast rose to fame with extreme challenge videos that offer huge financial rewards. The MrBeast YouTube channel has more subscribers than any other channel on the site.

For this challenge, the creator hired more than 50 doppelgangers, rigged explosions and used high-tech gadgets. But the extensive preparation wasn't enough, and MrBeast was bested.

The Indiana State Police captured the five "fugitives" with an hour and a half remaining in the challenge. The troopers won $500,000.

"We had a lot of fun being part of this production and showing a different side of the Indiana State Police," an ISP Facebook post said. "From K9 and emergency response to the everyday work our troopers do across Indiana, there is a lot more to being a Trooper than what you see on the side of the road."

The officers who participated used personal time and were off-duty, the video said.
