On an episode of the Sweet or Savory Podcast, Bretman Rock revealed his most “disappointing” celebrity encounter

He detailed an interaction at Coachella, where he and the actress were both in attendance as guests of the supplement brand Sugarbear Hair

“She looks at me and, like, tries to hide,” Rock claimed

Bretman Rock is settling scores.

During a Dec. 23 appearance on the Sweet or Savory Podcast — a clip of which recently started circulating online — the 27-year-old influencer was asked by hosts Alyssa and AJ Rafael about his most “disappointing” celebrity encounter.

“V. H.” Rock initially responded, refraining from giving out the full name of his answer to the question. But when the podcast hosts couldn’t figure out the celebrity to whom he was referring, Rock went ahead and gave her full name: Vanessa Hudgens.

“I don’t like her,” he said.

Rock went on to explain that the pair met at Coachella about seven or eight years ago, both in attendance at the iconic music festival on behalf of the supplement brand SugarbearPRO (then named Sugarbear Hair). While Rock was picking up his tickets for the festival, he spotted the Sugarbear Hair CEO — whom he says he knew well — speaking to Hudgens, and he waved to try to get his attention.

“She looks at me and, like, tries to hide,” Rock claimed. “Like, first of all, I’m not saying hi to you.”

Then, as Rock was moving towards the Sugarbear Hair CEO, he alleges that another woman — who he assumed to be Hudgens’s assistant — grabbed her hand to stand in between her and Rock.

“I was not f------ saying hi to you, Vanessa,” Rock reiterated. “There’s no reason for you to be hiding or having to have your assistant hide you because the only ones here are the ones invited. Like, girl, we have the same rate.”

“I was always Team Sharpay,” he added, referencing Ashley Tisdale's character in Disney Channel's High School Musical, which Hudgens also starred in. "I’m not a fan,” he reiterated.

Amid the viral clip, Tisdale has separately made headlines in the last week for penning an essay in The Cut in which she explained why she exited her celebrity mom group after she said it became toxic for her.

A rep for Hudgens did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Rock — whose combined social media following nears 50 million — recently wrapped a standout year online, capped off with a video of the year win at the inaugural U.S. TikTok Awards.

While he regularly racks up millions of views and likes, the content creator is comfortably hundreds of miles away from the influencer capital of the world, Los Angeles, instead living on a stunning Hawaiian villa with his six dogs and dozens of chickens.

Rock got his start on the now-defunct video-sharing platform Vine in 2014, and his early years online were not dissimilar from those of other influencers: brand deals, collaborations with other content creators and even an MTV reality show about his life. But now, he’s on a more singular path.

“I used to do so many collabs, but I think I stopped doing them because a lot of them came across as inauthentic,” he told PEOPLE in December about working with other influencers. “For these collabs, I would see these people for the first time in the video, so it's hard to fake friendships or relationships or banter off someone you literally just met.”

“I don’t relate to a lot of them — especially the L.A. girlies,” he continued. “It’s a lot of talking s---.”

In 2026, Rock is also newly looking for love after sharing that he had split up with his boyfriend Justice Fester in August.

“I feel like June me and December me are two different people — I feel like I’ve stepped into a new life,” Rock said to PEOPLE in December, revealing that he was “dating.” “In June, I had a man. I was very much in a different time in my life. And now I’m in a very different headspace.”

Continued the internet star: “You know, it is cuddle season. I’m just a little squirrel at the end of the day looking for a treat — a nut if you will.”
