- The *Saltburn* actor said he wants people to "stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can."
- Keoghan and Carpenter's split was confirmed in December 2024, after they went public with their relationship in February 2024.
Barry Keoghan is opening up about his breakup with Sabrina Carpenter.
While appearing on Tuesday's episode of the *Friends Keep Secrets* podcast — hosted by Benny Blanco, Lily Dicky (Dave Burd) and Burd's wife, Kristin Batalucco — the *Saltburn *actor addressed cheating allegations he has faced following his split from the "Espresso" singer.
"I came off Instagram and social profiles. I've stopped going to events. I've stopped socializing," Keoghan said, noting his departure from social media following the breakup. "It's because, you know, there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on, a narrative that's not true, and I never confirmed or said anything about it. I just disappeared."
Lil Dicky clarified that the narrative Keoghan mentioned was about cheating, to which the actor confirmed while never mentioning Carpenter's name directly.
Keoghan went on to say that "having a relationship in the public eye" can be challenging, before touching on internet rumors that circulated over the couple's split — specifically, TikTok influencer Breckie Hill reposting videos that fueled rumors Keoghan cheated on Carpenter with her.
Hill later posted a video addressing the rumors, saying she "did not get with Barry" and has never met or interacted with him. She shared that her previous reposts alleging that she was "homewrecking" Carpenter’s relationship were done "simply because I thought it was so ridiculous."**

Keoghan touched on the retraction, saying, "No one seemed to latch onto that video."
"I'm not asking for people to become my fan and like me because that's not normal either," he continued. "But I'm asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can, involving my parents who are no longer with me... just absolutely disgusting and vile. There's videos on TikTok literally going, 'I hate him.'"
The *Dunkirk* actor previously discussed online harassment he experienced shortly after his breakup with Carpenter in December 2024, releasing a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Dec. 7, to explain his departure from Instagram. In his post, Keoghan said he received messages that included "absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine."
Keoghan also shared how people called him a "heroine baby," and went to his grandmother's or the house where his former girlfriend Alyson Sandro lives with their young son, Brando. "That's crossing a line," he emphasized.
The *Banshees of Inisherin *actor pointed out in his podcast interview that he is not seeking a "pity card" over the situation, but doesn't understand why people online want to "beat someone" like himself who witnessed his parents' struggle with addiction and eventually battled with substance abuse himself.
Keoghan has previously discussed his parents being addicts and dying from drug use, leading him and his brother to spend years in foster care before being raised by their grandmother and aunt.**
