The couple’s business — where they sell frozen meat, pantry products, kitchenware as well as other baking and cooking goods online and in two brick-and-mortar stores — was recently embroiled in controversy after KPCW reported that health inspectors found high levels of coliform, the family of bacteria that includes E. coli, in Ballerina Farm's raw milk in 2025. The outlet also reported that the business halted raw milk sales after the findings.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Daniel wrote, “Producing raw milk takes careful planning from a facility and infrastructure standpoint. Unfortunately, we learned this after the fact.”

Hannah continued to speak out about the topic in a video uploaded to Instagram on Feb. 10: “We 100% stand behind our dairy and our milk and we would never put anything on the shelf that did not meet standards for raw milk consumption or dairy consumption.”
