The spiritual successor to Marvel's "row of chairs" stream is here.

On Tuesday, Marvel launched a new livestream for "Avengers: Doomsday" on YouTube with the title "DOOMSDAY CLOCK" after releasing the fourth trailer for the highly anticipated movie online. The latest teaser was previously shown in theaters before "Avatar: Fire and Ash" beginning last week.

The main version of the trailer, which centers on the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four, culminates in the Dec. 18 release date for "Avengers: Doomsday" being shown on screen, followed by a few seconds of a countdown to that day. But Marvel also started a livestream Tuesday that showed the trailer and then kept the countdown going.

For more than two hours Jan. 13, the stream has counted down the months, days, hours, minutes and seconds to the movie's release date, displayed under the ominous warning, "DOOMSDAY IS COMING."

It was unclear if Marvel plans to show anything additional on the stream or how long it will continue. Fans took to the YouTube chat to question whether the studio will keep the countdown live all the way until Dec. 18.

The countdown stream may be the culmination of a nearly monthlong rollout of four teaser trailers for "Avengers: Doomsday," each of which has been shown in movie theaters before being released online a few days later. The trailers all adhere to a similar format, featuring about a minute of footage followed by a large, green "Avengers" logo and a countdown to the December release date.

Fourth 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer debuts, confirms character return

Each trailer has also centered on a different character or group of characters. The first showed Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers, who now has a baby, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth's Thor and his daughter. The third starred returning "X-Men" actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and James Marsden. The latest trailer features Letitia Wright as Shuri and also shows King M'Baku (Winston Duke) meeting Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) of the Fantastic Four.

On Instagram, "Avengers: Doomsday" directors Joe and Anthony Russo posted a cryptic message Tuesday that appeared to reinforce the idea that the trailer rollout has concluded, at least for now.

"What you've been watching for the last four weeks ... are not teasers. Or trailers," they wrote. "They are stories. They are clues … Pay attention. #DoomsdayHasBegun."

Marvel's countdown clock stream comes after the studio made waves last year with another livestream that slowly unveiled the stacked cast of "Avengers: Doomsday." The stream revealed the film's stars by panning down a long row of director's chairs, each of which had an actor's name on the back. One cast member was announced roughly every 10 minutes, and the stream wound up lasting more than five hours. Fans were glued to the stream throughout the day, and according to Disney, it generated 275 million digital views.

Robert Downey Jr. appeared in a live stream revealing the cast of "Avengers: Doomsday" in 2025.

Third 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer hits theaters. Here's what's in it

"Avengers: Doomsday" will be the biggest event movie for the Marvel universe since 2019, uniting many of the heroes from recent entries like "Thunderbolts" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" alongside returning stars including Evans, Hemsworth and, most surprisingly, Robert Downey Jr. Evans and Downey were both thought to have left the franchise for good with 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," in which Evans' Steve Rogers retired and Downey's Tony Stark died.

But Evans is now back as Steve, while Downey is playing a new character: the villain Doctor Doom. It remains unclear if there will be any connection between Doctor Doom and Tony Stark.

No plot synopsis for "Avengers: Doomsday" has been released, though the credits teaser in 2025's "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" suggested the Fantastic Four may cross over into the main Marvel universe after Doctor Doom kidnaps Franklin Richards, the child of Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal). Doctor Doom was briefly shown in that credits scene, though only from the side, with his hood covering his face.

"Avengers: Doomsday" will be the first of two upcoming "Avengers" movies, similar to the way Marvel followed up 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War" with 2019's "Avengers: Endgame." A year after "Doomsday," "Avengers: Secret Wars" is scheduled for release in December 2027.
